Choosing a career that fits your personality is critical to career satisfaction and success, especially for those who consider themselves social people. Starting off on your career path or switching fields can be difficult if you are unsure where to turn, so starting on the right path from the beginning is important. Social people in particular enjoy interacting with others, and there are many different professions from which to choose. If you are a social butterfly, you're in luck and have a number of options for careers that you will find satisfying.

Social people tend to create an environment of trust in the workplace. They are generally friendly, cordial, and willing to go the extra mile to help out their coworkers as well as customers, clients or patients. You want to look for careers that will allow you to do what you enjoy best, such as interacting with lots of other people throughout the day or on a very regular basis.

Cosmetology and Esthetics

The first type of career that is a wonderful field for a social person is cosmetology and esthetics. Of course, you should also be artistic if you want to do this, but in such a field, you will find yourself interacting with many clients on a daily basis. While you provide your artistic services, whether they be makeup artistry, haircutting, styling and coloring, nail or skin care, you will no doubt find yourself chatting up a storm with people every single day. In the cosmetology field customer service is an essential part of the job, so strong social skills are imperative for success!

Bank Tellers and Financial Advisors

Certain careers in the financial industry are also great for social individuals. For instance, bank tellers interact with customers every single day. These are people who are great under pressure and who are highly trained in customer service. Financial advisors need strong social skills as well, as they spend a lot of time assisting people on a myriad of different banking situations, whether it be helping a customer open a new savings account, acquire a loan or giving them advice on opening a mortgage for their house.

Human Resources

Human resources employees must be highly social people as well. After all, they work for the heart of their organization and help to interview prospective new employees and get actual new employees started on their jobs. The manager of human resources will probably do more in way of interacting with many people, but clerks who work in these departments are also expected to help employees at times. It is imperative to have a social personality in such a situation, as you want to ensure that people you deal with have a good impression of the company, and the first place this begins is in human resources.

Teaching

Teaching is yet another field where it is imperative to have a social personality. Whether you are instructing a class of 30 students or just five, you must have a social personality in order to interact with individuals who look to you for the answers and to educate them. Also, many teachers will go the extra mile to interact with students on a one on one basis when they sense or realize that something is bothering a particular individual.
